our story

What should I do with my life? This is what I asked myself after selling my successful business (SupperWorks) that I had cofounded in 2005 here in Oakville. “Do what you love” and “find your passion” are two of my guiding principles, which I try, at any opportunity, to extol on our children Campbell and Addy. Following this sage advice, I am excited to share my love and enthusiasm for cheese, charcuterie and gourmet foods with you. And what better place to locate a cheese shop, than in the wonderfully eclectic Kerr Village? Thanks to my husband Ron, who is a local realtor, we were able to find the perfect location on Kerr St. in the heart of what is becoming a true “foodie” destination.

As a child, I loved going to the St. Lawrence Market with my parents early on Saturday mornings. I adored the hustle and bustle of the vendors, the colourful vegetables, the aromas that lingered but most of all, I loved the amazing fresh food. My mother was (and is) a wonderful cook and my parents loved to entertain. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I’ve always embraced good food, cooking and entertaining but add to that, a special passion for cheese. In addition to sampling countless types of cheese over the years, I’ve been studying cheese for quite some time now, including taking courses abroad and at home. Enter Farmhouse.

At Farmhouse Artisan Cheese, I wanted to create a friendly space where our customers would feel instantly at home upon walking through the front door. This is the backdrop for our excellent selection of cheeses from around the world, as well as, from our own backyard. We also feature delicious charcuterie/cured meats from Ontario and abroad. And don’t forget the accompaniments! We have a large selection of specialty crackers, oils, vinegars, jams, chutneys and more. Need a hostess gift? Look no further. We have a fun boutique section in our “farmhouse chic” store to round out your experience.

So, come in and check us out. We’d love to meet you and help make your day, a mouth-watering and delicious one.
